What is the most difficult part of writing? I would say that the most significant challenge in writing comes as a form of required patience. More often than not, good writing requires revision and an extreme level of clarity. Both of those elements require patience. It is most tempting to, when faced with the disparaging “writer’s block”, simply cease and discard the current project. That is not always the best option, but it is quite the most appealing. The wait for a future dose of motivation can be frustrating. As can the revision of something that initially came from your heart.
What is the easiest part? The easiest aspect of writing is quite literally the opposite of the most difficult. The simplest element comes in the form of passion. When I possess great passion for the subject, I need not worry about motivation, inspiration, or even patience. Passion is the provider; the source for the outpouring. The absence of passion is the absence of product.
